Tips to Make Your Long-Hauls More Bearable

We get it here at Moose Jaw Truck Shop. Long-haul driving is the best way to make money, but it can also be incredibly grueling. There are ways to make your long-hauls more enjoyable, and one of the most important ways is to have a video chat with your family when you stop for the night. Here are other suggestions to get you through your long routes with a smile on your face.

Choose Your Favourite Snacks

Why not enjoy the things you love best while on the road? Choose your favourite snacks to munch on all day to keep your energy up. If these snacks are unhealthy, limit your intake to ensure you don’t throw yourself into sugar shock or a fat-coma. If they are healthy, enjoy them even more. Yummy food makes us feel better and healthy food boosts moods.

Choose Your Favourite Beverages

Provided they aren’t alcoholic, you can also choose your favourite beverages. Again, if your favourite beverage is a sugary soda, it’s best to limit yourself to drinking one a day. If it’s something healthier, such as tea or flavoured water, you can enjoy more than one provided you aren’t hopping yourself up on sugar or caffeine.

Listen to Your Favourite Albums

Create a playlist that has all of your favourite albums on it. Listen to the albums all day long, and crank it up and sing along if you feel like doing so. Who cares if people can hear you? You’re on a long route, and you need to make it as enjoyable as possible. If you want to be the lead singer of your favourite rock band, go for it.

Listen to An Audiobook

Audiobooks are becoming more and more popular because people can listen to them while they’re driving. Choose your favourite authors and download audiobooks onto your smartphone. Listen to the audiobooks as you drive along to be immersed into a fiction or non-fiction world that is informative and entertaining.

Learn a New Language

You can also learn a new language while you’re driving on your route. There are plenty of language apps out there that teach you a new language without the need to take your eyes off the road. Choose the language you’d like to learn, find an excellent learning audiobook or app, and take it away. You’ll be fluent in no time.

Get Plenty of Rest

No matter what, make sure that you get plenty of rest during your long-haul route. Stop every night and get a full night’s sleep. Exhaustion can sour your mood, make you aggressive behind the wheel, and also dull your senses and reactions. Tired driving is akin to drunk driving, so always get plenty of rest during your route.

Keep Your Rig in Excellent Shape

Finally, one thing that will sour your route for sure is breaking down. Make certain that your rig is in excellent shape before you hit the road. You don’t need the stress involved with breakdowns nor can you afford to lose the time it will take to get your rig fixed. A full inspection before each route ensures your rig is ready to go.

We can help you with that here at Moose Jaw Truck Shop in Moose Jaw, SK. Give us a call today to discuss your big rig service and repair needs.
