Can You Really Tell if a Car Has Been in an Accident?

Yes, you can really tell if a car has been in an accident and repaired. It takes an expert eye to detect subtle things such as changes in paint color or damage to a vehicle suspension. We have the trained eyes here in our shop, and we can provide a pre-purchase inspection for any used car that you would like to buy. We recommend you have this inspection even if the vehicle is certified by the dealer. An extra set of eyes can find damage or other problems that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Check for Fire Damage

In addition to inspecting the automobile to confirm that it has not been in an accident, we will also inspect the vehicle for fire damage. We will also take into account the common things that can cause a fire, such as a faulty electrical system or a leak in the fuel system. As such, we will inspect the systems to make sure everything is okay. If there is something wrong, we will let you know immediately.

Check for Flood Damage

We will also inspect the vehicle for flood damage and mold and mildew growth. You do not want to purchase an automobile that will make you sick when you drive it. You also want to avoid an automobile that has flood damage, because this damage can come with residual side effects. The same is true with accident and fire damage, even if the automobile has been repaired by professionals.

Inspect the Engine

It is also critical to inspect the engine before you purchase a used car. In addition to the engine, everything on the automobile should be inspected and tested. This includes things like the navigation system, the brake system, and the dashboard warning system. Even though the vehicle is used, it is new to you, and it should be as safe and reliable as a new automobile off the lot.

Run a Diagnostic Test

Finally, a pre-purchase inspection should include a diagnostic test. This test can produce error codes that point to problems that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. The test can confirm that the automobile is in excellent shape or that there are problems that need to be repaired. This is why we run diagnostic tests when we conduct pre-purchase inspections on automobiles.
